I’m always sniffing out a good deal — call it thrifty, call it smart, call it “Sylvia knows how to stretch a dollar.” So when I got invited to park myself at yard-sale central on Washington Blvd, I knew I’d found my people. The street was lined with gorgeous homes, killer deals, and folks ready to haggle over a flower vase like it was The Price is Right.

It was a hot one. Like really hot. The kind of day where you question all your life choices by 9 a.m.

This past Wednesday, Sylvia spread her wings and rolled into the SoBro Farmers Market — and let me tell you, it was storybook magic (with a splash of rain)!

Yes, it stormed…puddle-splashing, tent-holding, hair-frizzing rain. But guess what? Not even storm clouds could stop this crew.

I rolled up to the Children’s Museum’s Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience (try saying that five times fast without knocking over your fairy wings) where Bigs, Littles, and entire families celebrated the magic of mentoring— and stocked up on some seriously good summer reads.

Even as a young fairy, I remember fluttering around, watching all the end-of-school festivities from the sidelines. Field Day was the event. Kids running wild with summer energy, popsicles melting faster than you could say “last day,” and me? I was just hoping someone would lose a tooth so I could get in on a little action.

If you heard giggles, stepped in melted snow cone, or saw a glittery trailer surrounded by happy chaos this weekend, that was me, Sylvia, parked proudly at Shake-Up-Day at Monon Works!

This past weekend, I had the joy of fluttering up to Sylvan Learning Center in Carmel for their Community Day — chef’s kiss.

After surviving those infamous roundabouts, I was greeted by perfect weather and book lovers of all ages. From a school librarian on lunch duty to kids plopping down with snacks and new books, it was a day full of sunny, serendipitous moments.

Big Debut Energy–Welp, I did it—I made my grand debut in Indianapolis after my glow-up, and let me tell you, this mobile bookstore was thriving. With fresh paint, new shelves, and a sparkle in my taillights, I rolled into the fairgrounds ready to turn heads. And I did.
