Sylvia sprints in the Franklin Fast Flash 5k

It was a hot one. Like really hot. The kind of day where you question all your life choices by 9 a.m.

I rolled up at 6 a.m., already in full sfitzing glory, ready to set up shop. The sun was already beaming as the runners began to trickle in, doing their fancy stretches and strutting around with numbers pinned proudly to their chests.

This was a big day for me — I had just launched The Book Fairy’s subscription and membership program, and I couldn’t wait to chat with book lovers about it.

But here’s the thing about runners: they’re fast. People flew by my booth so quickly during the race I could hardly make out their sweet faces. If it were me out there, I’d be in an ice bath for three days. But these go-getters? They crossed the finish line, wiped the sweat from their brows, and made a beeline for the books.

Soon, they were browsing, signing up for memberships, and chatting like they hadn’t just run miles in the blazing sun.

This 5K wasn’t just a race — it was an event. There were games, horses, a helicopter flyover, booths, food, and some seriously good prizes. And right in the middle of it all, The Book Fairy was there, turning finish-line energy into book-buying joy.

Here’s to more races, more readers, and chanting of…Run Sylvia, Run!
