The Book Fairy vs. The Rain: A Tale of Puddles and Paperbacks
This past Wednesday, Sylvia spread her wings and rolled into the SoBro Farmers Market — and let me tell you, it was storybook magic (with a splash of rain)!
Yes, it stormed…puddle-splashing, tent-holding, hair-frizzing rain. But guess what? Not even storm clouds could stop this crew.
Our white shelves were filled to the brim with bright, beloved children’s books, and the second we popped open our fairy wings (okay, technically parked), little readers and grown-up book lovers began to appear — umbrellas, rain boots, and all. The warmth of the SoBro community truly melted the clouds away.
The highlight of our day? A determined young reader who found the book she had been searching for everywhere. After flipping through it with stars in her eyes, she realized she didn’t have enough money with her. Without missing a beat, this mini storybook star dashed home in the rain to grab her savings and walked back — soaked but beaming — to make that book hers. We’re not crying, you’re crying.
Meanwhile, outside the store, our friend Dan set up a magical little art station where kids could draw their favorite literary heroes — and wow, did we see some adorable masterpieces…Piggy, Elephant, Dog Man, Bluey, and even the Lorax!
Thank you, SoBro Farmers Market, for welcoming us with open arms and damp hugs. We’ll be back soon — hopefully with sunnier skies but just as many smiles.
With a sprinkle of glitter and a whole lot of gratitude,
Sylvia
