Sylvia Goes Round-About in Carmel
This past weekend, I had the joy of fluttering up to the Sylvan Learning Center Carmel, for their Community Day — nothing short of magical!
I’ll admit, I had a few flutters in my stomach as I approached the county line. I’ve heard things about those infamous roundabouts. But listen, it’s May in Indy, and my stealthy trailer handled those curves like I was channeling Scott Dixon himself.
First of all, the weather? Absolute perfection. Blue skies, a gentle breeze, and just enough sun to keep everyone in a good mood. I had the joy of meeting a wide variety of visitors—from friendly neighborhood ladies strolling by, to a mom on a mission to feed her hungry son who ended up finding a little peace (and maybe a book or two) in my cozy shop.
One of the most heartwarming moments of the day? Watching a five-year-old pause, point at the side of my bus, and carefully sound out the words all by himself. I had kids snuggled into my book nook, flipping through new summer reads, and families lingering just a bit longer, caught in the joy of a good story.
It was a day filled with connection, community, and a whole lot of book love. I met some truly fantastic people and couldn’t have had more fun. Hamilton County—chef’s kiss!

P.S. Mother’s Day is coming — wouldn’t she be proud to catch you reading for once? Better yet, get her a book. It’s cheaper than brunch and lasts longer. Shop for mom here!
