Sylvia (Without Sylvia) Goes to the Dribble

Look, I prefer to travel with my full personality intact—windows, shelves, undeniable curb appeal—but for the 2026 NCAA Men’s Final Four Dribble, I made a strategic decision: go incognito.

No trailer. Just vibes. And a very committed booth setup.

Set up near Carroll Stadium, I watched over 3,500 kids and families gather, each armed with their very official, very exclusive Wilson basketballs and matching Final Four t-shirts. There is something deeply humbling about watching thousands of children dribble in unison—it’s like controlled chaos, but with better branding.

From there, they took off through the streets of Indianapolis, weaving their way along a one-mile course that wrapped through downtown and landed at Victory Field. Tiny sneakers. Big energy. A lot of determination. Questionable ball control (but we don’t dwell).

Meanwhile, I held down the literary side of March Madness.

We built out a basketball-themed book booth—because obviously—and gave kids the chance to shoot hoops for prizes. Stickers, books, sport necklaces… low stakes, high glory. Some kids came in confident. Some came in wildly optimistic. All of them left with something in hand and a little extra main character energy.

And the best part? The people.

We saw plenty of familiar faces—Book Fairy regulars who spotted us mid-dribble madness and made a beeline over (excellent instincts, truly). And then there were the new folks, who wandered in somewhere between “just here for basketball” and “wait…books AND basketball?”

Yes. Both. Always both.

The whole day had that unmistakable Final Four buzz—fans everywhere, team gear on full display, and a city that felt like it was collectively running on adrenaline and snacks. It’s my favorite version of Indianapolis: loud, a little chaotic, and very, very alive.

So while I may not have had my full trailer presence, I’d say we still showed up exactly how we were supposed to—bringing books into the middle of the madness, one bounce shot at a time.

And honestly?

I travel pretty well, even without myself.

Baseball season kicks off next weekend…let the games begin!
