Shake Up Holiday Mart

Well hey there, sugarplums — it’s me, Sylvia, your favorite sparkly 1965 mobile bookshop on wheels, reporting live from the Shake Up Holiday Mart at the fairgrounds!

Let me just start by saying: if late-November weather had any business being that beautiful, it could’ve at least warned my aluminum panels ahead of time. I was shimmering like a disco ball in a peppermint forest. Absolutely gorgeous day!

Picture this: I’m parked, minding my bookish business, when a group of pre-teens — Breakfast for Brunch — hops on stage and starts absolutely shredding. I don’t know who fed them confidence and rhythm for breakfast (or brunch), but bless them! They had the entire place vibing.

Meanwhile, Shake Up Cocktails brought the holiday cheer. I watched grown-ups stroll by with festive drinks, laughing, playing games, and living their happiest holiday-market lives. Pure joy, truly.

Then a couple from Camby, Indiana wandered over, and let me tell you: their book knowledge could rival a librarian on espresso. They introduced me to a game called Tiny Bookshop… and wow.
Soulmates? Maybe.
Bookish angels? Definitely.

Everywhere I turned, another vendor had something delightful — handmade treasures, quirky finds, full-on holiday magic.

But my favorite part? Watching a crew of very cool kids hang out inside my cozy shelves, picking out holiday gifts for their favorite humans. Thoughtful, kind, intentional — flipping through pages with the seriousness of tiny literary scholars. My heart grew three sizes.

Another wonderful day for this old silver girl.

Until the next festive adventure…
Love & library cards,

XO-Sylvia
