Pogue’s Pride, Pages & Perfect Porch Weather
Well…if I had eyebrows, they would’ve been sweating.
I spent my Sunday parked along the charming streets of Windsor Park for Pogue’s Pride, hosted by Epicurean, and let me tell you—it was one of those picture-perfect summer days. Blue skies, sunshine, a healthy amount of humidity, and sidewalks full of people simply enjoying one another.
Families wandered the neighborhood with iced coffees in hand, kids bounced around in swimsuits eagerly awaiting their afternoon trip to the splash pad, food trucks filled the air with smells that made me wish campers came equipped with functioning taste buds, and every corner seemed to be overflowing with music, laughter, and conversation.
My little bookstore stayed busy all afternoon.
Grandparents were hunting for the perfect gift. Parents stocked up on summer reads. A few adults quietly admitted the books they were buying were “for the kids,” while somehow ending up in the young adult section. I’m not here to judge. Good books don’t have an age limit.

Listen…I’ve heard it enough that I’m starting to think I should put it on a T-shirt.
This weekend also marked the debut of my brand-new Sylvia Pride stickers, and
they were an absolute hit. The community drawing boards were once again filled with colorful masterpieces ranging from heartfelt messages to self-portraits, family doodles, rainbow creations, and the occasional drawing that required absolutely no explanation because art is subjective.
Events like Pogue’s Pride remind me why I love rolling around this city.
Sure, I get to sell books.
But more importantly, I get to witness neighbors supporting neighbors, families
making memories, strangers becoming friends, and a community creating space where everyone is welcomed exactly as they are.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by, climbed inside, grabbed a sticker, left a drawing, picked up a book, or simply said hello.
Keep reading. Keep being kind. And keep celebrating one another.
XO-Sylvia
