Fairies can have Field Day’s too!
Even as a young fairy, I remember fluttering around, watching all the end-of-school festivities from the sidelines. Field Day was the event. Kids running wild with summer energy, popsicles melting faster than you could say “last day,” and me? I was just hoping someone would lose a tooth so I could get in on a little action.
But this year? This fairy got her wings in the game.
The Book Fairy was officially invited to St. Joan of Arc’s Field Day—and not just as a spectator! I was front and center, right next to the bounce house (prime real estate, I must say). Kiddos stopped by to shop, spin a hoola hoop, and snag some sweet literary treats to kick off their summer reading.
I had tiny shoppers strolling in with plastic baggies full of coins and crumpled dollars like it was Christmas morning. They were on a mission: to find that book—the one they couldn’t wait to read in a hammock, on the beach, or under the covers with a flashlight.
One of my favorite moments? A soon-to-be freshman found a book she’d been hunting for forever. Her face lit up like she’d discovered buried treasure—and honestly, she had.
It was a magical day, and I couldn’t be happier to have been part of it. Here’s to summer reads, bouncy castles, and dreams (finally) coming true. Stock up on your summer reads now: Suns Out, Puns Out!
Summer here we come,
