Are You Smarter Than a Preschooler? Honestly, Debatable.
Listen, I spend a lot of time around kids. I’ve seen what they know. I’ve heard their questions. I’ve witnessed their ability to remember one very specific thing you promised them six months ago.
So when Making Memories Playschool invited me to their “Are You Smarter Than a Preschooler?” fundraiser, I already had my suspicions about how this was going to go.
The evening was held at Primo, because apparently all good Indianapolis fundraisers eventually find their way to Primo. And honestly? I get it.
There was a silent auction, trivia, great food, drinks, music and — perhaps most importantly — no preschoolers. This one was for the grown-ups.
I was parked out front for the evening, stocked with books and ready to help raise some money for Making Memories. Parents, grandparents, friends and community supporters stopped in to shop, chat and support a school they clearly love.
And that’s one of my favorite things about getting invited to events like this. Yes, I am a very attractive 1965 Avion full of books, so obviously people are excited to see me. But underneath the trivia, auction items and adult beverages, you get to see just how many people are invested in making a school a great place for kids.
Making Memories has built one heck of a community.
Throughout the night, the grown-ups put their knowledge to the test to answer the important question: Are you actually smarter than a preschooler?
Results were mixed.

But money was raised. Books were bought. Drinks were had. And nobody had to open a GoGo squeeZ, locate a missing water bottle or negotiate with someone refusing to wear pants.
A successful preschool fundraiser by every available metric.
Thanks to Making Memories Playschool for letting The Book Fairy be a small part of the night — and to everyone who stopped inside Sylvia to shop and support the school.
Until next time,
XO-Sylvia
