A Very Special (Persons) Day at St. Joan of Arc
Reported live by your favorite sparkly 1965 mobile bookshop on wheels, Sylvia. Watch out Anne Marie Tiernon…
Well butter my biscuits and pass the cranberry sauce — St. Joan of Arc sure knows how to kick off Thanksgiving break with style and chaos (the good kind).
The weather? Absolutely disrespectful. Cold enough to make my aluminum panels shiver. But did that stop us? Absolutely not. I was set up both inside and outside, like the Beyoncé of bookshops — available in multiple locations, serving looks and literature.
Special Persons Day brought out every beloved human under the sun. And let me tell you — these kids were running around that school like tiny tour guides hopped up on joy and zero intentions of doing any actual classwork.
“Here’s my desk!”
“Here’s where I hide my snacks!”
“Here’s where my teacher makes me do math against my will!”
Pure magic.
When lunchtime rolled around, the cafeteria transformed into a Thanksgiving dreamscape. Families gathered for a
delicious feast — turkey, mashed potatoes, the works.
And then? SHOPPING.
My shelves didn’t just get browsed — they got pillaged.
Holiday goodies, plushies, book lights, must-read favorites — I was losing inventory faster than you can say “Book Fairy Bucks.”
Kids proudly walked around with their spoils, special persons trailing behind like happy pack mules. The spirit of giving? Alive and well.
There was so much joy, so much chaos, and so many happy humans popping in and out of my doors that I left feeling full.
St. Joan of Arc, thank you for letting me be part of such a special, love-packed day.
Families, your enthusiasm and support keep my little heart glowing.
Until next time, my darlings —
Stay warm, stay thankful, and stay cozy with a good book.
Love always,
Sylvia
